The beginning
He was just a little boy when he experienced his first encounter with special Indonesian stones and rings called batu cincin. His brother in law, who was also his guru at that time, spread them out on the table together with a few keris which was, and still is a cultural habit. Men sitting around the table discussing the origin and meanings of these objects while enjoying a Bintang beer and homemade food.
But it was’nt until 1979, during his stay in Java, that he really learned more about this cultural habit. It was here that he got his first pusaka (heirloom). Three special stones named Akik Mistik, Hati Ayam and Sulaiman Mata. After this, his interest and passion became only bigger. It is quite rare for a Blanda (Indonesian expression for Dutch) to know so much about the Indonesian way of the Ilmu (mystics).
More than just jewelry
Now, many years later it has become a family business with the unique distinction that we handpick most of our stones. Every stone has a handmade ring so it fits perfectly with the stone. (if the stone is not specifically handpicked and the ring is not handmade it is always mentioned). Besides this, every item has its own unique story to tell. If available we also add the western information.
If you have aver been in Asia you probably have seen marketplaces or vendors sitting on the ground with many gemstones in front of them. It looks so easy to buy something. But be carefull, many stones are fake or have been or are composed of several stones. Even we still are often amazed how some stones look so real.
It is our intention to share our knowledge with the world so everyone can enjoy the secrets and the wonders of Asia and our precious nature that creates these amazing objects. And if you, perhaps, believe in the mystical stories and powers of (half) gemstones, then we hope to enrich your life even more with the stories that makes each stone extra unique.
